These textbooks and their support materials offer a full-year program of language study presented in 15 six-page units covering all text types. Each unit provides:

• A sample text with an accompanying explanation of its writing style and techniques
• Comprehension questions (literal, inferential, creative and critical)
• A writing project involving the writing process and editorial hints
• Reference skills sending students to the dictionary, thesaurus and style guide
• Word knowledge (vocabulary, spelling, topic words, grammar and word histories)
• Speaking / publication including hints on fluency and expression in oral presentations

All aspects of the activities in each unit are directly linked to its text sample. No detail of language is learned without a direct application to the text model and the writing project.

Each unit of work is laid out similarly making the series ideal for use with multilevel classes. Units can be done in any order.
